Upload a logo to CSS Centre

Comparison Shopping Service (CSS) Centre allows you to upload your CSS's domain logo for use when showing products on Google. If you choose to upload a logo, this logo will appear in certain formats for Shopping ads next to your CSS's name.

This article outlines the steps and requirements for uploading your logos to CSS Centre.

How it works

The logo that you upload will be used for showing your products on Google and viewed by users on screens of different sizes and resolutions.

You can only upload a square logo. For square logos, we recommend using branding that has been designed to be viewed on a small scale, such as favicons or logos used on your social media accounts. Square images don't need to include the brand name.

Upload a logo to CSS Centre to have it shown in your display ad.

Upload a new logo or change a logo

  1. Sign in to your CSS Centre account and navigate to the CSS domain for which you want to upload a logo.
  2. Click the Tools and settings menu Tools and settings menu icon [Gear], then under the 'Tools' section, click Business details.
  3. Find the requirements, max file size and dimensions for the logo on the right side of the page. If your image doesn't fit these requirements, it won't upload and you'll receive an error message.
  4. You can either drag and drop your image file from another window, or hover your mouse over the box and click Upload to browse your computer for the file.

Review or remove a logo

  1. Sign in to your CSS Centre account and navigate to the CSS domain for which you want to review or remove a logo.
  2. Click the Tools and settings menu Tools and settings menu icon [Gear], then under the 'Tools' section, click Business details.
  3. Hover your mouse over the logo.
    • To review the logo, click Review.
    • To remove the logo, click Remove.

Any newly uploaded or replaced logos undergo a manual review for quality and compliance in CSS Centre. After the logo has been approved, the new image will replace the existing logo in your branding.

If you're working with a third-party platform, some of these instructions may not apply to you. Refer to your third-party platform for instructions on how to resolve the issue and request a review. Learn how to find support if you use a non-Google platform.

Logo requirements

The logo that appears in your display must meet the requirements outlined below. All uploaded images are reviewed and must be approved by the CSS Centre team before appearing on any surfaces.

  • Image type: Square logos must be viewable on a small scale, such as on mobile devices. We recommend using images designed for social media or as favicons.
Note: Square logos don't need to include your shop name.
  • Aspect ratio: Square logos must have an aspect ratio of exactly 1:1.
  • SVG (recommended), PNG or WebP file type: Images must be an SVG, PNG or WebP file. We strongly recommend SVG, as it can be scaled across a large range of sizes without losing quality. If a PNG or WebP image is submitted, it must be between a minimum of 24 x 24 pixels and a maximum of 84 x 84 pixels in size.
  • File size: Image files can’t be larger than 5 MB.

Logo quality issues

The logo that you upload to CSS Centre is checked for quality and compliance. If your logo is disapproved or doesn't successfully process, you may need to make some changes to the image to meet our requirements. Common quality issues that lead to logo rejection include:

  • The logo contains a watermarked image.
  • The logo belongs to a different retailer or doesn't match your current branding.
  • The logo contains text that is illegible when the image is resized for smaller screens.
  • The logo contains too much white space (also known as negative space). Negative space shouldn't be added to an image to make it fit within the dimensions.
  • Any white space or background on logos should be made transparent. This doesn't include images with coloured backgrounds that are a set part of the logo.
Note: Any variable transparency information ('alpha channel') in your logo won't be displayed on Google.
  • All uploaded logos must comply with Shopping ads policies. Any logos found to be in violation will be removed.

If your logo has been disapproved, hover over the 'Rejected' badge to review the error message. Then, resolve any outstanding issues and try again.
