Unsupported creatives

Display & Video 360 doesn't serve creatives with the following problems. If one of your creatives has a problem, try the steps below to fix it.

Creative doesn't have at least 1 crawlable landing page

Test your ad's landing page URL in a browser. Make sure:

  • The page loads.
  • The page isn't hidden behind a login, firewall, or router.
  • The page has a robots.txt file that allows the Googlebot and Google Adsbot to crawl your page. Follow our step-by-step guide for fixing this problem.
  • The landing page has text, not only images.
  • The landing page is available in all geographic locations.

If you can't resolve the problem, try using another landing page URL in the creative.

Creative has a landing page that require sign-in

Display & Video 360 can't serve creatives with landing pages that require people to sign in before the rest of the page loads. Update the creative or the landing page.

Creative has no landing page

Display & Video 360 requires creatives to link to at least one landing page. Modify the creative's code to allow clicking.

Creative can't be previewed

If the creative review team can’t preview it, Display & Video 360 can’t serve it. Typically preview doesn't work because of blocking technology or targeting settings from a third-party ad server.

  • Use Display & Video 360's targeting settings and built-in, pre-bid verification technology to make sure your ads serve in only the correct places.
  • If the settings can't be changed, make sure your advertiser has a branded backup creative that can always serve.

Creative has more than one brand or advertiser

Creatives with content that rotates several brands or advertisers aren't allowed. Move different brands and advertisers into distinct creatives.

Creative violates Google Ads' content policies or requirements

Display & Video 360 can't serve creatives that violate Google Ads' content policies or requirements. Review Google Ads' policies and requirements, and update the creative to remove any violations.

For example, a creative for a state lottery that isn't legal everywhere in the country or region. Make sure your creatives comply with the broader legal restrictions in the country or region where your ad is meant to serve.

Creative is low quality

Display & Video 360 can't serve creatives that are poor quality. For example, creatives that impersonate site content, encourage clicks, don't display a brand, or have flashing backgrounds. Update the creative.

Creative slows down the viewer's device or browser

Display & Video 360 can't serve creatives that slow down the viewer's device or browser. For example, creatives that set more than 25 cookies, include more than 100 HTTP calls, or have a download size greater than 5 MB. Update the creative to reduce excessive resource loading.

Creative starts a phone call

Display & Video 360 can't serve creatives that start a phone call instead of sending someone to a landing page.

  • Update the creative to direct people to a landing page instead of starting a phone call
  • Remove any landing pages that start with tel:
