Follow a collaborator on Google Slides

If you are in a presentation at the same time as others, you can follow a presenter or another editor. When you’re following a collaborator and they move to a new slide, you will also move to the new slide.

Important: You can only follow a collaborator if you are using Google Slides on a computer.

Start following a collaborator

  1. On your computer, open a Google Slides presentation.
  2. At the top right, click on the collaborator’s avatar to follow them.

You will jump to the slide that the collaborator is on. If they move to a different slide, you will also move to that slide.

Tip: If you’re following a collaborator, there will be a "Following" badge beneath their avatar at the top right.

Stop following a collaborator

At the top right, click on the collaborator’s avatar again to stop following them.

You will also stop following the collaborator if:

  • The collaborator refreshes or leaves the presentation.
  • You make any edits to the presentation.
  • You add or edit a comment.
  • You click a different slide.
  • You enter Slideshow mode.
  • You open Version history.

Issues with following a collaborator

You may not be able to follow a collaborator if they:

  • Are on an unsupported device.
  • Are anonymous.
  • Don’t have Edit permission to the presentation.
  • Don’t have a slide selected.
