View live pointers on Google Slides

If you are in a presentation at the same time as others, you can view collaborators’ pointers as they move around a slide. You can also choose to show or hide your pointer.

Important: You can only find or show live pointers if you’re using Google Slides on a computer. You can only show your pointer if you have edit access to the presentation.

Show or hide your pointer

If your pointer is visible to others, you will find Your pointer is visible to others  on the right side of the toolbar. If your pointer is hidden from others, you will find Your pointer is hidden  on the right side of the toolbar.

Important: Once pointer visibility is turned on, your pointer will remain visible in all Slides until you turn it off. You can only show your pointer if you have edit access to the presentation, but all access levels can view pointers.

To show your pointer:

  1. On your computer, open a Google Slides presentation.
  2. Choose an option:
    • At the right side of the toolbar, click Your pointer is hidden .
    • At the top, click View and then Live pointers Live pointers and then Check Show my pointer.

To hide your pointer:

  1. On your computer, open a Google Slides presentation.
  2. Choose an option:
    • At the right side of the toolbar, click Your pointer is visible to others .
    • At the top, click View and then Live pointers Live pointers and then Uncheck Show my pointer.

Show or hide collaborators’ pointers

By default, you will find collaborators’ live pointers in the presentation.

To hide their live pointers:

  1. On your computer, open a Google Slides presentation.
  2. Choose an option:
    1. At the right side of the toolbar, click Live pointer settings  and then Uncheck Show collaborator pointers.
    2. At the top, click View and then Live pointers Live pointers and then Uncheck Show collaborator pointers.
Issues with viewing live pointers

You may not be able to view live pointers if:

  • There are no other collaborators in the presentation.
  • There are more than 20 collaborators in the presentation.
  • Your collaborators don’t have edit access to the presentation.
