You can upload and insert your own image or video clip into a video from:
- Google Drive
- Google Photos
- The web
- A file on your computer

Add images, GIFs, or videos from Drive or Photos
Important:
- You can upload these file types:
- MP4
- Quicktime
- OGG
- WebM
- Individual clips have limits of 35 minutes and 4 GB. Learn how to trim a video clip in Vids.
- On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
- In the timeline, select the scene where you want to upload an image, GIF, or video.
- In the sidebar, click My media or in the menu, click Insert My media .
- Choose your file from the My media side panel:
- In Drive: Use a file saved to your Google Drive.
- In Photos: Use an image from your Google Photos library.
- Tip: You can search your files, or filter by folder or media type.
- Click the file to add to the scene canvas.
Tip: When you add files from Google Drive or Google Photos, ensure you’re logged into the account that has the files you want to add. For example, if you have a work account and a personal account, and are creating a video with your work account, be sure the photos you want to add are available on your work account.
Upload images, GIFs, or videos from your desktop or the web
Important: To turn off any feature on Google Workspace Labs, you must exit Workspace Labs. If you exit, you permanently lose access to all Workspace Labs features and you won’t be able to rejoin Workspace Labs.
To add an image or video from your computer or the web:
- On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
- In the timeline, select the scene where you want to upload an image, GIF, or video:

Tip: It may take a moment for your image to open.
