Feature availability
- This feature is available through our early access testing program, Google Workspace Labs, which is an invite only program for users to try new AI features.
- To check if you have access to Workspace Labs features, open Google Vids. A window to help you start creating in Vids will appear if you have access. Learn where you can use Workspace Labs features.
- For users with access to Workspace Labs, note that new features for Vids are rolling out gradually, and may not be available to you yet.
Animate text, shapes & media
Animate different object types (including texts, shapes, images, and videos) within a scene of your video.
- On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
- Click on a scene.
- Click on the object Change animation .
- In the Animation side panel, select an animation style.
- For example, fade, slide, or rise.
- Customize your animation:
- Adjust direction and duration.
- For some animations, you can:
- Change the speed of the animation.
- Under “Duration,” adjust the slider.
- Change the direction of the animation.
- Change the speed of the animation.
- For some animations, you can:
- Text animation preferences.
- Choose how to animate text:
- Whole: Animates all text.
- Paragraph
- Word
- Character
- Choose how to animate text:
- Use entry and exit animations.
- To select different animations for entry and exit, at the bottom of the side panel, select Separate enter and exit animations.
- Adjust direction and duration.
Add a photo effect
To add motion to create dynamic visual effects from static images, use photo effects.
- On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
- Select a scene in your timeline.
- Click on the photo Change animation .
- In the Animation side panel, select a photo effect.
- Customize your photo effect.
- For some effects, you can select:
- Loop duration: The time it takes to complete the effect.
- Direction: The animation's path into or out of the scene.
- Reverse on loop: Change the direction of animation with each loop.
- For some effects, you can select:
Tip: Photo effect animations always loop or repeat continuously.
Important: To turn off any of the features on Google Workspace Labs you must exit Workspace Labs. If you exit, you will permanently lose access to all Workspace Labs features, and you won’t be able to rejoin Workspace Labs. Learn more about how to exit Workspace Labs.
