Add object animations & photo effects in Vids (Workspace Labs)

Important: This article refers to Google Workspace Labs, which is an invite only program for users to try new AI Features. To check if you have access to Workspace Labs features, open Google Vids. Animate text, shapes & media

Animate different object types (including texts, shapes, images, and videos) within a scene of your video.

  1. On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
  2. Click on a scene.
  3. Click on the object and then Change animation .
  4. In the Animation side panel, select an animation style.
    • For example, fade, slide, or rise.
  5. Customize your animation:
    • To change when the animation will appear in the video, under “Animate,” select Enter & exit, Enter, or Exit.
    • To change the speed of the animation, under “Duration,” adjust the slider.
    • You can choose to animate text by:
      • Whole: Animates all text.
      • Paragraph
      • Word
      • Character

Add a photo effect

To add motion to create dynamic visual effects from static images, use photo effects.

  1. On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
  2. Select a scene in your timeline.
  3. Click on the photo and then Change animation .
  4. In the Animation side panel, select a photo effect.
Important: To turn off any of the features on Google Workspace Labs you must exit Workspace Labs. If you exit, you will permanently lose access to all Workspace Labs features, and you won’t be able to rejoin Workspace Labs. Learn more about how to exit Workspace Labs.
