You can find and correct misspellings as you type in Google Slides.
Check spelling
- On your computer, open Google Slides.
- Click a presentation.
- At the top, click Tools Spelling.
- Click Spell check.
If spell check finds errors, you’ll get spelling suggestions:
- To accept a suggestion, click Change.
To accept all suggestions, click the down arrow Change all. - To ignore a suggestion, click Ignore.
To ignore all suggestions, click the down arrow Ignore all.
Add a word to your personal dictionary
- On your computer, open Google Slides.
- At the top, click Tools Spelling.
- Click Personal dictionary.
- Enter your new word.
- Click OK.
Turn spelling suggestions on or off
Important: Follow these steps to turn suggestions on or off for all your presentations.
- On your computer, open Google Slides.
- At the top, click Tools Spelling Underline errors.
Turn off autocorrect
Autocorrect checks capitalization and creates links and lists.
To turn off certain autocorrections:
- On your computer, open Google Slides.
- At the top, click Tools Preferences General.
- To turn off certain autocorrects, uncheck the box next to the function.
- Click OK.
Turn off specific auto-substitutions
- On your computer, open Google Slides.
- Click Tools Preferences Substitutions.
- To turn off specific auto-substitutions, uncheck the box next to the word or symbol.
- To remove auto-substitutions, next to the word or symbol, click Remove .
- Click OK.
