Leave & check messages with Google Duo

If you call someone using Duo and they don't answer, leave a video or voice message. The message can be up to 30 seconds long. You can also create and send a personalized note.

As we continue to refine the overall Google Assistant experience, Assistant no longer supports underutilized features, such as video or audio messages. Learn how we’re refining Google Assistant features.

Important: Only incoming one-on-one messages can be found on your computer. The following message types can only be viewed on the Duo app: group messages, sent messages, emojis, moments, and reactions.

  1. On your computer, go to duo.google.com.
  2. Search for a contact.
  3. Click the contact.
  4. In the window that appears, click the message you want to view.
  5. Select an option:
    • Download the message
    • Delete the message
    • Call the person back

Tips:

  • You can replay a message at any time unless you changed your Duo settings to auto-delete messages after 24 hours.
  • When you download a message, it’s saved to your computer.

To auto-delete messages after 24 hours:

  1. On your computer, go to duo.google.com.
  2. At the top right, click Settings Settings.
  3. Turn off Save messages

Note: If you delete your Duo account, any unsaved messages will be deleted.
