Important: This only applies to assignments graded with Google Assignments.
While reviewing assignments, you can give feedback with in-line suggestions and margin comments.
If you enter the same comment for many students, you can save time by adding it to the comment bank for later use. You can also paste a prepared list of comments into the bank. The comment bank is tied to your Google Account, so you can use stored comments from any device.
Add, save, or find comments
- Go to your LMS.
- Click the assignmentthe student's document.
The file opens in the grading tool. - Highlight the passage you want to comment onclick Add comment
- Enter your commentclick Comment.
You have 2 ways to add comments to the comment bank.
Add an existing comment to the comment bank

Go to your LMS.
- Click the assignmentthe student's document.
The file opens in the grading tool. - In the top-right corner, click Comment bank .

To add your comment to the bank, in the top-right corner of the comment box, click More and select Add to comment bank
- (Optional) Edit your comment.
- Click Add.
Enter a comment directly into the comment bank

Go to your LMS.

Click the assignmentthe student's document.
The file opens in the grading tool. - In the top-right corner, click Comment bank .
- Click Add to bankenter your commentclick Add.
Note: To view or update your comment bank, you have to open an assignment.
Go to your saved comments in the comment bank

In the top-right corner, click Comment bank .
- Scroll up or down the list of your saved comments.
- (Optional) For more options, place your cursor next to a comment and click More .
You have 3 ways to search for and then use comment bank comments.
Use hash and autocomplete
To make it easy to find a comment, Assignments autocompletes content you enter after a hash (#). As you enter the content, a list of matching comments opens. This list narrows as you enter more characters.

Highlight text and click Add comment .
- In the comment box, enter # enter a keyword or phrase.
Assignments autocompletes suggestions as you type. - To insert a comment, click the commentComment.
Use only a hash
- Open a student assignment in the grading tool.
- Highlight text and click Add comment .
- In the comment box, enter only a hash (#). The 5 most recently used comments open.
Search
- In the grading tool, click Comment bank Search .
- Point to the comment you want to use, click More Copy to clipboard.
- In the comment box, paste the comment.
- (Optional) Personalize the comment.
- Click Comment.

Click Grading .
- Under Overall feedback, enter your feedback.
Note: You might have to scroll down to see this option.The comment saves automatically.
Edit, copy, or delete a comment

Go to your LMS.

In the top-right corner, click Comment bank .
- Point to the comment you want to editclick Comment options Edit.
- Enter your changes and click Save.

In the top-right corner, click Comment bank .
- Point to the comment you want to copyclick Comment options Copy to clipboard.
The comment is copied to the clipboard.

In the top-right corner, click Comment bank .
- Point to the comment you want to removeclick Comment options Delete.
- Click Delete again.
Switch students or view menus
Switch to another student's assignment
To go to another student’s assignment while grading, choose one:

Click the Down arrow and choose a student's name.
- Click Back or Next .
Open the hidden toolbar menus
- At the right of the toolbar, click the Down arrow for Show the menus.
- Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + F.
