About voicemail transcriptions

When you get a voicemail, the message is turned into text that you can read on your phone.

The quality of the transcription varies depending on the caller and background noise. Sometimes we can’t transcribe voicemails if there’s too much background noise, or if the voicemail isn’t in English. If this happens, you get “Transcript not available.”

  1. To get your voicemail transcriptions by text, go to your Voicemail settings.
  2. Turn on Voicemails by text.
Find voicemails
You can download available voicemails as MP3s.
  1. On your computer, go to takeout.google.com.
  2. Select data to include and choose Google Fi.
  3. Choose file type, frequency, and destination.
  4. Click Create export.
  5. Download the zip file.
This works even if you cancel your Google Fi service. The voicemails are present as long as you don't delete them or your Google Account. If voicemails aren’t located with this process, you can try to reactivate your Google Fi service. The Google Fi app should download the available voicemails.
