Transfer your existing phone number to GFiber Phone

You can transfer an existing number to GFiber Phone. Before transferring your number, consider the following:

  • Do not cancel service with your current provider before the transfer is complete. The transfer may take up to 5 business days to go into effect; sometimes longer if your address or other information didn’t match the records of your prior carrier.
  • Gather all the information you need about your current phone number, such as account number, service address, password, and PIN. Most of this information should be available on your bill.

  • If you have voicemail messages on your current system you want to keep, ask your provider if they provide the ability to download and save the messages. You can also download and use free software like Audacity to record and save your messages.

  • Transferring from a cell phone service may result in the cancellation of your entire plan, including data.

Transfer your number

  1. Sign in to GFiber with your email and password.

  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to select Keep your existing number, and complete the setup flow.

  3. Fill out the form to authorize the transfer process with your current provider. You may want to have your current provider's bill handy so you have the information you’ll need in front of you.

  4. After it's complete, you'll be directed to schedule your installation appointment. After you select an installation appointment, we'll begin the process of transferring your number.

Verifying your transfer information

After completing the setup flow to transfer your existing number to GFiber Phone, confirm the on-screen information from your current provider is correct. Reference your current provider's bill to manually update any incorrect information such as service address, account number, name or PIN number. Any incorrect information could delay your transfer.

Resubmitting your transfer information

If any of the information doesn't match your current carrier's records, they might reject the transfer. If that happens, you'll receive an email from GFiber and you'll have an opportunity to correct and resubmit the information. The most common cause for this issue is an error in the address information that was entered. Please verify that the address you provided matches exactly what’s on file with your current carrier.

To make sure that all of the information is correct, we recommend contacting your current carrier to request either the address they have on file for you or your customer service record, which should have the address information you need to successfully transfer your phone number. It’s worth noting that the address on file with your current carrier is not always the same as the address on your bill.

Please note that you may be asked to provide a Personal Identification Number (PIN) to confirm your identity before any changes to your account are made. If you don’t know your PIN number, we recommend contacting your current provider to obtain it.

Canceling or Rescheduling Your Install: Avoid canceling or rescheduling your appointment. If you cancel or reschedule your appointment within 48 hours of the appointment time, there's a chance the transfer of your current number will take place, and your current service will be disconnected.
