Track your heart rate with your watch

You can use a Wear OS watch to take heart rate measurements. In the Google Fit app, you can track your heart rate for a workout or over time.

Important: Fit won’t save heart rate data for children under 13 (or the applicable age in your country).

Get started

To monitor your heart rate, you need a watch with a heart rate sensor. Some examples include:

  • LG Watch Sport
  • Huawei Watch 2
  • Montblanc Summit
  • Fossil Q Control
  • Misfit Vapor

Check your current heart rate on your watch

Navigate in your watch

  1. If the screen is dim, tap it to wake up the watch.
  2. To get a list of your apps, press the power button.
  3. Open the Google Fit heart rate app Google Fit.
  4. Tap Measure.
    • Wear 2: Open the Google Fit app. Scroll and tap Read heart rate. If it’s not there, this isn’t available on your watch.
  5. Stay still while the watch reads your heart rate.

Fix a heart rate monitor that’s not working

If your heart rate monitor isn't working, try these steps:

  1. Tighten the watch strap around your wrist, or adjust the fit of your Bluetooth sensor.
  2. Make sure that the back of the sensor completely touches your skin.
  3. Keep still. Moving can make the sensor inaccurate.

Important: The heart rate functions are not medical devices, and are intended for informational purposes only. Consult a physician before you begin a new fitness or nutrition programme.
