If you moved Fitbit to your Google Account, manage your profile settings under your Google Account. For more information, see the Google Account help article.
When you first created your Fitbit account, your personal information is set to private by default:
- Birthday (if you sign in with your Fitbit login)
- Sex, height, and weight
- Location
- Friends
- Badges
- Lifetime steps, distance, and floors
When you add a friend or join a group on Fitbit, your average daily step count, display name, and profile photo are visible to your friend and other group members. Your About Me information and the date you joined Fitbit is visible to your friends.
Control who sees your personal information in your privacy settings.
If you sign in with your Google Account
- From the Today tab , tap your profile picture.
- Tap Fitbit settings Social & Sharing Privacy.
- Tap each item to review and adjust your privacy settings.
- Tap Save.
If you sign in with your Fitbit login
- From the Today tab , tap the Settings icon .
- Tap Social & Sharing Privacy.
- Tap each item to review and adjust your privacy settings.
- Tap Save.
- On the Fitbit settings page, click Privacy under the Settings menu.
- For each item, review and adjust your privacy settings.
Your display name is the name your friends see when they look at your Fitbit profile, when you send them a message, or in other interactions in the Community tab of the Fitbit app.
You can also choose a user name that your friends will see instead of your real name.
- From the You tab , tap the tile with your name.
- Tap Display Name.
- Under Edit Names, tap the name or user name you want to change and enter your changes.
- Tap Save.
- From the You tab , tap the tile with your name.
- Tap the information you want to change and make your changes.
- Tap Save.
- On the Fitbit settings page, find the information you would like to change and make your changes.
- Click Submit.
- From the Today tab , tap the settings icon in the top left.
- Tap Account Settings Change Email.
- In the New Email and Confirm New Email boxes, enter your preferred email address.
- In the Confirm Password box, type your Fitbit account password.
- Tap Change and follow the on-screen instructions.
- In the email you receive, click Verify your Email to complete the update.
On the Fitbit settings page, click Change Email Address or Change Personal Info.
If you don't remember your password, see How do I change or reset my Fitbit password? If you no longer have access to the email account currently associated with your Fitbit account and can't remember your password, you'll need to create a new account.
- On the You tab , tap your name Personal.
- Swipe up to see your joined date.
On the Fitbit settings page, click View Profile next to your profile image. Your join date is shown under Personal Info.
- From the You tab , under Community, tap Friends You.
- Tap the camera icon next to your current profile picture.
- Take a new photo or choose an existing photo. In Fitbit child accounts, choose an avatar.
- Save your photo.
- On the Fitbit settings page, click Change Profile Picture.
- Choose a new photo Upload.
- From the You tab , under Community, tap Friends You.
- Tap the camera icon next to your current cover photo.
- Take a new photo or choose an existing photo.
- Save your photo.
If you sign in with your Google Account
- From the Today tab , tap your profile picture.
- Tap Fitbit settings Social & Sharing Privacy Average Daily Step Count.
- Adjust who can see your step count.
If you sign in with your Fitbit login
- From the Today tab , tap the settings icon .
- Tap Social & Sharing Privacy Average Daily Step Count.
- Adjust who can see your step count.
- On the Fitbit settings page, click Privacy under the Settings menu.
- Under Statistics, find Average Daily Step Count.
- Click the arrow to adjust who can see your step count.
Share where you live with your Fitbit friends or all Fitbit users.
Note that setting your location in your profile does not change the language setting for your Fitbit account or the time on your Fitbit device. - From the You tab , tap the tile with your name.
- Tap Location.
- Choose your country, and tap Save.
- On the Fitbit settings page, under Country, choose your country. If you live in the United States you can also add your city and state. Under State, select your state and then under City type your city name.
- Click Submit.
If you sign in with your Google Account
- From the Today tab , tap your profile picture.
- Tap Fitbit settings Social & Sharing Privacy My Friends.
- Change the setting to adjust who can see your friends list.
- Tap Save.
If you sign in with your Fitbit login
- From the Today tab , tap the settings icon .
- Tap Social & Sharing Privacy My Friends.
- Change the setting to adjust who can see your friends list.
- Tap Save.
- On the Fitbit settings page, click Privacy under the Settings menu.
- Under Personal Info, click My Friends to adjust who can see your friends.
Fitbit app
- From the You tab , under Community, tap Friends.
- Tap the friend you want to delete or block to view their profile.
- On their profile, tap the three dots.
- To remove the friend, tap Remove Friend.
- To block a friend, tap Block User.
If you want to unblock a user, go to Fitbit settings Social & Sharing Blocked Users and select the user you want to unblock
