How do I get started with Fitbit kids devices?

Get the whole family moving and making memories with a Fitbit family account and Fitbit Ace, Fitbit Ace 2, or Fitbit Ace 3. Send messages and cheers, and use Ace devices with a protected Fitbit app view for kids.

1 | Set up Fitbit Ace devices

Charge your tracker. To begin setting up your tracker, connect it to the charging cable.

Set up Ace devices. Create a new Fitbit account or log in to your existing Fitbit account on the primary phone or tablet your child will use with their tracker.

Family account

Create a family account. Create a family account, then add your child and help them set up their profile.

Check the Fitbit app. Sync your tracker with the Fitbit app on the primary phone or tablet your child will use with their tracker to see their latest stats.

2 | Get to know your tracker

See your stats. Swipe up from the clock face to see stats including steps, active minutes, and sleep duration (Ace 2 and Ace 3 only). See additional details in the Fitbit app.

Never miss a call. When connected to their phone, Ace devices can alert kids to incoming calls. If the tracker is connected to a parent's phone, turn off call notifications under kid view in the Fitbit app.

Change the clock face. Pick from a variety of clock faces, including several clock faces exclusive to Ace devices. Note that animated clock faces require more frequent charging.

Set an alarm. Set an alarm in the Fitbit app and dismiss it on your wrist. On Ace 2 and Ace 3, turn alarms on or off in the Alarms app .

Use the timer and stopwatch. On Ace 2 and Ace 3, use the timer and stopwatch features to guide homework time, time races to the end of the block, and more.

Prevent unintended button presses. Turn on the water lock setting on Ace 3 when you're in water, for example showering or swimming, to prevent the buttons on your tracker from activating. Press and hold the buttons to access quick settings on Ace 3 and tap Water Lock A water droplet.

The do not disturb and sleep settings Snooze distractions. On Ace 3, turn on DND  or Sleep  mode to temporarily turn off notifications. Sleep mode also dims your screen and turns off Screen Wake . 3 | Get fit as a family

Use kid view in the Fitbit app. Through the protected kid view, kids and parents can see limited data like their kids’ stats, badges, and clock face options.

Use parent view in the Fitbit app. Parent view allows parents to manage their family account, invite family members, approve kids’ friends, and create child accounts.

Stay active every day. The CDC recommends kids get 60 minutes of physical activity each day. Ace devices include a 60-minute active minutes goal for extra motivation.

Maintain healthy sleep habits. Use the Fitbit app to schedule bedtime reminders and alarms that wake kids with quiet buzzing on their wrists.
