How do I set up and troubleshoot apps on my Fitbit device?

How do I set up apps on my Fitbit device? 
 Agenda

See upcoming calendar events with the Agenda app .

To set up the Agenda app:

  1. From the Today tab  in the Fitbit app, tap the devices icon  your deviceGalleryAgenda.
  2. Tap Settings. You’ll see all calendars linked to the default calendar app on your phone.
  3. Adjust the settings to choose which calendars to show on your device, the color for events linked to each calendar, and whether you want to see blocks of free time.

To view events in the Agenda app:

  1. Open the Agenda app  on your device. You’ll see the events scheduled for today and tomorrow. Swipe up and down to scroll through the events.
  2. Tap any event to see details.

Note that the Agenda app shows up to 40 total events over 2 days.

You must allow the Agenda app to access your calendar and run in the background. For more information about adjusting an app’s permissions, see How do I install and manage apps on my Fitbit device?

If your events don't appear, check the following settings:

  • Location services must be turned on for the Fitbit app. For instructions, see How do I use GPS on my Fitbit device?
  • Calendar access must be turned on for the Fitbit app:
    • On iPhones, open the Settings app on your phone Fitbit make sure Calendars is turned on.
    • On Android phones, open the Settings app on your phone AppsFitbitPermissionsCalendar make sure the access is set to Allow.
    • On Windows 10 phones, open the Settings app on your phone PrivacyFitbit make sure Calendar access is turned on.
 Alexa

Use the Alexa app  on Sense, Sense 2, Versa 2, Versa 3, and Versa 4 to check the weather, set timers and alarms, start a workout in the Exercise app , control your smart home devices, and more. For more information, see How do I use a voice assistant on my Fitbit smartwatch?

 Clocks
Switch between 5 saved clock faces with the Clocks app . For more information, see How do I change the clock face on my Fitbit device?
 ECG

 Find Phone

When you can’t find your phone, use the Find Phone app  to locate it.

Requirements:

  • Your Fitbit device must be connected (“paired”) to the phone you want to locate.
  • Your phone must have Bluetooth turned on and be within 30 feet (10m) of your Fitbit device.
  • The Fitbit app must be running in the background on your phone.
  • Your phone must be turned on.

To find your phone:

  • Open the Find Phone app on your Fitbit device.
    • Sense and Versa 3—swipe left on the clock face.
    • Sense 2 and Versa 4—while on the clock face, press the button.
    • Charge 5, Inspire 3, and Luxe—swipe down on the clock face.
  • Tap Find Phone. Your phone rings loudly.
  • When you locate your phone, tap Cancel to end the ringtone.
 Google Assistant
Use the Assistant app  on Sense and Versa 3 to check the weather, set timers and alarms, control your smart home devices, and more. For more information, see How do I use a voice assistant on my Fitbit smartwatch?
Google Maps
Get turn-by-turn directions on your wrist with the Google Maps app  on Charge 6, Sense 2 and Versa 4. For more information, see How do I use Google Maps on my Fitbit device?
 News

To set up the News app:

  1. From the Today tab  in the Fitbit app, tap the devices icon  your device  Gallery News.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. To adjust the news providers whose content you want included in your list of articles, in the Providers section, tap Edit provider list.
  4. Open the News app  on your watch. Up to 10 recent news articles are shown from the providers you selected. Note the following requirements:
    • Your phone must be nearby with Bluetooth turned on.
    • Your phone must have access to the internet.
    • The Fitbit app must be running on your phone in the foreground or background.
    • The News app must have permission to run in the background and access the internet. To check your app permissions, from the Today tab  in the Fitbit app, tap the devices icon  your device GalleryNewsPermissions.
  5. To adjust the article categories shown, tap Filter at the bottom of the list of articles.
  6. Tap Done to save your filters and return to the list of articles.

To bookmark and read an article:

  1. Open the News app  on your watch.
  2. Tap an article headline. A short description of the article is shown.
  3. To bookmark the article to read later, tap the Bookmark button. You can bookmark up to 20 articles.
  4. To read the article, open the Fitbit app on your phone and from the Today tab , tap the devices icon  your deviceGallery News.
  5. Tap Settings.
  6. In the Saved Articles section, tap the article you want to read.
  7. To delete a bookmarked article, in the Saved Articles section, tap Edit the x icon.
 Philips Hue

To control your lights with your Philips Hue system and Fitbit watch, your Philips Hue system must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your phone, and your watch must be within Bluetooth range of your phone.

Note for Android users: Due to recent Android security changes, your local network must be using one of the following IP address ranges: 192.168.0.0/24 or 192.168.1.0/24.

To set up the Philips Hue app:

  1. Open the Philips Hue app  on your watch.
  2. The app starts searching for your Hue bridge. When prompted on your watch, press the pairing button on your bridge to complete the pairing process.

To adjust your lights from your watch:

  1. Open the Philips Hue app  on your watch.
  2. From the Rooms screen, tap on or off to adjust all the lights in each room. Up to 10 rooms are listed. If you have more than 10 rooms, use the Philips Hue app on your phone to adjust additional rooms.
  3. Tap the  icon next to a room to see the lights in that room.
    • Tap the checkbox next to each light to turn it on or off.
    • Swipe left to view the Scenes screen. Tap a scene name to set it.

To add new devices, rename lights, customize scenes, or organize the lights in each room, use the Philips Hue app on your phone.

 Spotify

 Starbucks

The Starbucks app is only available in the United Kingdom, United States and Canada. To load your Starbucks card into the app:

  1. From the Today tab  in the Fitbit app, tap the devices icon  your device Gallery Starbucks Card.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Add your Starbucks gift card or Starbucks Rewards program number.
  4. To make a purchase, open the Starbucks app on your watch and hold the watch face near the reader.

To remove your Starbucks card from the app:

  1. From the Today tab  in the Fitbit app, tap the devices icon  your device  Gallery Starbucks Card.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap your card number.
  4. Tap the X.
  5. After your number turns gray, tap Save.

Visit starbucks.com or use the Starbucks mobile app to register your card, check your card balance, view rewards, or reload your card.

 Strava
The​​​​​​ Strava app is no longer available in the Fitbit Gallery. Use the Strava app on your phone to track your workouts. For more information on connecting your Fitbit account with Strava, see How do I connect Fitbit with another app?
 Tile

 Uber

To set up the Uber app:

  1. If you don’t have an Uber account, download the Uber app on your phone and follow the on-screen instructions to create an account.
  2. From the Today tab  in the Fitbit app, tap the devices icon  your device Gallery Uber.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap Login to be redirected to the Uber login page.
  5. Sign in to your account and follow the on-screen instructions to log in to your account and authorize the connection.
  6. Use the Uber app on your phone to set any preset locations, such as your home or work address. For instructions, see Uber’s help article.

To request a ride:

  1. Open the Uber app  on your watch.
  2. Your watch uses your preset home and work addresses as your default pickup and destination locations. If needed, tap the swap icon  to swap the pickup and destination addresses. To change your pickup location, tap it and select a different address. You can select your current location, detected using your phone’s GPS signal, or a recently used address.
  3. After selecting the correct pickup and destination locations, tap Confirm.
  4. The cost of the trip, estimated time of pickup, and estimated time of arrival are shown. Swipe left or right to select a service. Tap Request to request the ride.
  5. When a driver confirms the ride, the driver’s information appears. Swipe up to see the estimated time until pickup and cancel the ride if needed.
  6. To change your destination address or rate your driver, use the Uber app on your phone.
  Weather

To set up the Weather app:

  1. From the Today tab  in the Fitbit app, tap the devices icon  your device Gallery Weather.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. By default, the Weather app shows your current location, which can't be deleted. Add up to 2 additional locations you want to see in the Weather app.
  4. Sync your device with the Fitbit app. It can take a few minutes to see the updated list of locations on your device.

If the weather doesn't update, check the following settings:

  • Location services must be turned on for the Fitbit app. For instructions, see How do I use GPS on my Fitbit device?
  • The Fitbit app must remain running in the background on your phone.

If you change locations, sync your device to see your new location in the Weather app.

To change the units used for the temperature in the Weather app:

  1. From the Today tab in the Fitbit app, tap the devices icon   your device Gallery Weather.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. In the Temperature Unit section, tap Units and choose the unit you want to use.
  YouTube Music
Use YouTube Music controls on Charge 6 to control YouTube Music on your phone. Navigate between playlists, skip or replay songs, and adjust the volume from your tracker. For more information, see How do I control music with my Fitbit device?
How do I troubleshoot apps on my Fitbit device?
  1. For apps to access the internet, your phone must be nearby with the Fitbit app running in the background and Bluetooth turned on. Many apps require internet access.
  2. Check if the app has a pending update. For instructions, see How do I install and manage apps on my Fitbit device?
  3. Turning off app permissions can cause the app to stop functioning. Check that all permissions are turned on:
    1. From the Today tab  in the Fitbit app, tap the devices icon  your device Gallery.
    2. Tap an app to open it.
    3. Tap Permissions.
    4. If any permissions are turned off, turn them on. Note that some permissions can cause your phone to use more data.
    5. Tap Save.
    6. If you see a caution icon  next to the app in the My Apps tab, check the following permissions on your phone:
      • Location services must be turned on for the Fitbit app. For instructions, see How do I use GPS on my Fitbit device?
      • Calendar access must be turned on for the Fitbit app:
        • On iPhones, open the Settings app on your phone Fitbit make sure Calendars is turned on.
        • On Android phones, open the Settings app on your phone AppsFitbitPermissionsCalendar make sure the access is set to Allow.
        • On Windows 10 phones, open the Settings app on your phone PrivacyFitbit make sure Calendar access is turned on.
  4. Fitbit Sense, Fitbit Versa, Fitbit Versa 2, and Fitbit Versa 3 must be connected to Wi-Fi for some larger apps and clock faces to install or update. For more information, see How do I connect my Fitbit watch to Wi-Fi?
