Copy & paste sections of text with Gboard

You can use Gboard to paste emails, URLs, phone numbers, numbers, addresses, dates, and times. If you copy a section of text that includes info like an email or phone number, you can choose which part of that text to paste into a new area. For example, you can copy an entire text message with the date, address, and URL for an event, then select and paste only the address to share with a friend to meet you there.

Important: Addresses, dates, and times are only available in certain countries and regions and in certain languages.

Copy a text block & paste part of the text

Important:

  • You can paste dates only if they’re written in numerical format. For example, you can paste dates like “3/12/2021,” but you can’t paste dates like “March 12, 2021.”
  • The clipboard clears your history shortly after you last use it. This doesn't apply to pinned text.

  2. Open the app where you want to paste the text.
  3. Tap an area where you can enter text.
