You can change how Gboard looks, sounds, and vibrates.
Important: If your device's vibration settings are turned off, your Gboard's vibration settings will be overridden.
Important: If your device uses Android 8 (Go edition), some of these steps might not work.
Important:
- Talk-to-text doesn't work with all languages.
- Some of these steps work only on Android 7.0 and up. Learn how to check your Android version.
Change how your keyboard looks
You can change your keyboard theme. To give your Gboard a background, like a photo or a color:
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Settings app .
- Tap System Languages & input.
- Tap Virtual Keyboard Gboard.
- Tap Theme.
- Pick a theme. Then tap Apply.
Change how your keyboard sounds & vibrates
To pick whether your keyboard makes sounds or vibrations, and how loud or strong they are:
- On your Android phone or tablet, install Gboard.
- Open the Settings app .
- Tap System Languages & input.
- Tap Virtual Keyboard Gboard.
- Tap Preferences.
- Scroll down to "Key press."
- Pick an option. For example:
- Sound on keypress
- Volume on keypress
- Haptic feedback on keypress
- Vibration strength on keypress
