Translate as you type

You can translate text into a different language while typing on Gboard.

Important: Gboard is available for iPhones and iPads with iOS 9 and up.

Find which languages can be translated.

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, install Gboard.
  2. Open any app that you can type with, such as Gmail or Keep.
  3. Tap an area where you can enter text.
  4. At the top of the keyboard, tap Open features menu Open features menu.
  5. Tap Translate Translate.
  6. Pick the language to translate from.
  7. Pick the language to translate into.
  8. Enter your text. You'll get a preview as you type. You can tap the preview to find variations of the translation.
  9. To use the translation, tap Select Select.
Tip: To close the translation window, tap Close features menu Back.
