Most users with a work or school Google Account have access to Gemini Apps. Feature availability and how your data is handled depends on your Workspace licence.
In the Help Centre, you will find important notifications and tips about info that differs depending on whether work or school users have access to Gemini Advanced or enterprise-grade data protections. Learn how to check your level of access and data protections below.
Check if you have Gemini Advanced and what data protections you have
Check if you have access to Gemini AdvancedGemini Advanced is only available with certain Google Workspace licences. To check if you have access to Gemini Advanced with your work or school account:
- Go to gemini.google.com.
- Make sure you’re signed into your work or school account.
- On the homepage, check the upper left .
- If you find the Gemini logo, without Advanced mentioned, you do not have access to Gemini Advanced.
- If you find the Gemini Advanced logo, you have access to Gemini Advanced.
Tips:
- Learn more about Google Workspace add-ons that include Gemini Advanced.
- If you don’t have access to Gemini Advanced, your Google Workspace administrator would need to upgrade your licence to enable access.
Enterprise-grade data protections are available with most, but not all, Google Workspace licences. To check if you have enterprise-grade data protections with your work or school account:
- Go to gemini.google.com.
- Make sure that you're signed in to your work or school account.

Access and requirements for work or school users
Important: To use Gemini Apps with a work account, you must be aged 18 or over.
How you can access Gemini Apps with your work account, and if you have enterprise-grade data protections while using Gemini Apps, depends on the Google Workspace licence that your account has.

Activity for users with a work or school Google Account
Manage and delete Gemini Apps activity
For users with a work or school Google Account and access to Gemini, Gemini activity is on and can't be turned off, and you can't delete your Gemini activity.

Your Gemini Apps activity only includes activity from the Gemini web app gemini.google.com. When you delete your chats with Gemini for Workspace inside a Workspace app, this does not delete any information that is saved to your Gemini Apps activity.

If you've used the Gemini web app with your work or school account previously and had Gemini Apps activity turned off, your Gemini Apps activity will be turned on. The first time that you sign in after 9 May 2024, your Gemini Apps activity will be turned on and your conversation history will be retained for 18 months.
- If Gemini Apps indicate that your history is off, refresh your web page.
Important: For work users who have a access to Gemini Apps as an additional service, while Gemini Apps activity is on, Google collects your Gemini Apps conversations and other information you provide to improve and develop Google products and services and machine-learning technologies. Learn more.
