Google has updated the setup, management and termination experience of location links and the Google Business Profile within Google Ads. Learn more about Google Business Profile.
Before you begin
With location assets, your ads can display information such as your address, a map to your location or the distance to your business to help people find your shops. People can then click or tap your location when shown with your final ad to get further details about your location on your location page, which includes the most relevant business information all in one place.
Link your Google Business profile during the new onboarding experience
From the information provided at the start of the onboarding, we are able to detect if an advertiser has a Google Business Profile we will offer it for selection.
Identified accounts
All identified Google products will be highlighted in the About the Business section. In order to connect identified accounts follow the steps outlined below:
- Click Link. A drop-down will appear with pre-populated accounts.
- You can perform the following actions:
- Select identified accounts.
- Search for accounts to select.
- Select the account that you want to link, and then click Link.
- Select the data that you want to import.
- Click Next, review your selection and click Link.
You will be returned to the 'About the Business' section where you can add additional identified or unidentified accounts.
Unidentified accounts
All other Google products can be selected in the About the Business section under Optional: Connect other apps and accounts. In order to connect unidentified accounts follow the steps outlined below:
- Click Add. A drop-down will appear with a search box.
- In the search box, enter the channel URL (YouTube), account ID (Merchant Center) or app ID.
- Select the account that you want to link, and click Next.
- Review your selection and click Send Request.
You will be returned to the 'About the Business' section where you can add additional identified or unidentified accounts.
Link your Google Business Profile
Link to any Business Profile
- In your Google Ads account, click the Campaigns icon .
- Click the Assets drop-down in the section menu.
- Click Assets.
- Click the plus button , and choose Location asset.
- Your domain should show up automatically. If it doesn’t, enter a domain to discover potential Business Profiles.
- Select Countries by clicking the pencil icon . Click Save.
- In the list below, find the Business Profile that best matches your business. Click Select.
- Confirm that the correct Business Profile is showing in the preview, click Continue.
Your request will be sent to the email address for the Business Profile that you've selected. When your request is approved, locations for that account will be eligible to show as location assets with your ads.
Link to a Business Profile you manage
- In your Google Ads account, click the Campaigns icon .
- Click the Assets drop-down in the section menu.
- Click Assets.
- Click the plus button , and choose Location asset.
- Click Link to a Business Profile Manager account that I know.
- Choose Select a Business Profile that I manage. Select an account from the drop-down.
- Click Continue.
- Apply your business name or label filters if needed. Click Finish.
Manage Google Business Profile links
- In your Google Ads account, click the Admin icon .
- Click Linked accounts.
- Under 'Your linked accounts and products', find 'Google Business Profile', then click Manage & link for new links
- You will see all linked Business Profiles, pending invitations.
- If the locations are being used in active location assets a View Location Assets button will appear in the action column, next to Manage.
- You can expand the existing locations by pressing the error next to the name of the Business Profile.
Unlink Google Business Profile links
- In your Google Ads account, click the Admin icon .
- Click Linked accounts.
- Under 'Your linked accounts and products', find 'Google Business Profile', then click Manage & link for new links
- Select the account that you want to unlink from your Google Ads account by clicking Manage in the Action column.
- In the Slidealog, click Unlink and follow the steps to unlink the account.
