About YouTube TV ad behaviour

YouTube TV is a TV streaming service that includes live TV from 100+ broadcast, cable and regional sports networks.

Some of your non-skippable in-stream ads, skippable in-stream ads and bumper ads from Google Ads auction campaigns and reserved media placements on YouTube may be eligible to serve on cable networks on YouTube TV.


How it works

The YouTube TV advertising opportunity is across cable networks, including live, DVR and video on demand (VOD) content.

While viewers can watch content across cable and broadcast channels, Google only has sales rights to cable networks.

  • Cable: Cable networks include channels such as ESPN, FX and USA. Select cable networks’ inventory may not be available at launch.
  • Broadcast: Google doesn’t have sales rights for any broadcast network. Broadcasters include ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC and the CW.

Depending on whether the show is live, DVR or VOD, Google-sold ads on YouTube TV will have different features, such as Why This Ad? (WTA), Visit Advertiser Site, and a timer. WTA gives the viewers an explanation of why a particular ad was targeted to them, 'Visit Advertiser Site' is a link viewers can click to go to the advertiser’s website that lives at the top of the right panel beside the video, and the timer displays the length of an ad.
