Automatic rebills due to a client account transfer

When a client account transfers between agencies, it's possible that due to various delays, the client account officially completes its transfer to the new agency after the initially intended transfer date. When this happens, invoices may be issued to the previous agency that should have been billed to the new agency.

Google collects the intended transfer date as part of the client transfer process, so once the transfer is completed any eligible open invoices will automatically be rebilled to the new agency.

Note: The responsible payer for an invoice is determined by the intended transfer date, so please ensure the date selected accurately reflects the desired payer for the account.

This article will explain the scenarios in which an automatic rebill will or will not happen with a client account transfer.

Rebill eligibility

When a client transfer is completed, the system will automatically rebill invoices to the new agency when the below criteria are met:

  • The document is an original invoice (not previously rebilled)
  • Invoices were not issued longer than 2 months ago
  • Transfer date was the 1st of the month
  • Invoices are fully open (no credit notes or payments applied) and issued to the previous agency
  • Invoices have an invoice date later than the transfer date
  • Invoices are issued by one of the below Google entities:
    • Google LLC (formerly Google Inc.)
    • Google Ireland Ltd.
    • Google Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd.

The admins on the respective Payments Profiles and manager accounts will receive an email notification whenever an invoice is rebilled.

For any open invoices that need to be rebilled to the new agency but don’t fit the above criteria, please open a dispute. Learn more about how to Dispute or change invoices.

If you don't want invoices meeting the above criteria to be rebilled, please update the intended transfer date to today’s date or to another date in the future.
