About your language, number format, time zone, and currency settings

For subtitles in your language, turn on YouTube captions. Select the settings icon Image of YouTube settings icon at the bottom of the video player, then select "Subtitles/CC" and choose your language.

You can make changes to certain Google Ads account settings, such as display language and number format. Keep in mind that adjusting these settings won’t change how people see your ads. This article explains how to change your display language and number format and what to do if your time zone or currency settings are incorrect.

Change your display language

Your display language is the language you see within Google Ads. To change the language that your ads are shown to, learn more about how language targeting works.

By default, your account will use your Google Account language. These directions explain how to set a different language for Google Ads:

  1. Go to your Google Ads account Preferences.
  2. Click to expand the Display language & number format section, then click the "Display language" drop-down menu and select a language.
  3. Click Save.

Change your number format

Your number format changes how periods and commas are used when Google Ads displays a number, for example, 2,000.50 vs. 2.000,50.

Not every possible number format is available for every display language. Also, some display languages let you choose only one number format, so depending on your language, your number format might not be editable.

  1. Go to your Google Ads account Preferences.
  2. Click to expand the Display language & number format section, then click the "Number format" drop-down menu and select the number format you'd like to use (by country).
  3. Click Save.
Your time zone setting

Your time zone is permanently set when you set up your account. This setting cannot be updated because it's such a fundamental part of your account reporting and billing.

If you’d like to manage your ads in a different time zone, you must create a new account and set your desired time zone at the time of account creation.

Your reports and statistics are affected by the time zone you select. For example, reports that you segment by time will generate results according to your account time zone. Google Ads accounts can be set for most of the world's standard time zones, with more than 200 to choose from.

All time zones must be in full hour or half-hour increments relative to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). If your local time zone is one of the few offset a quarter-hour from GMT, the Google Ads system can't support your time zone. You'll need to choose a different time zone for your account.

Note: While you can choose your account time zone, all items on your billing pages only show in Pacific Standard Time (PST). Remember that time zone selection affects only the administration of your account. Your selection doesn't affect the locations where your ad may show.

To set your time zone in a new account:

  1. Create a new account.
  2. Fill in your account info and set your desired time zone on the “Billing” page.
Choose your time zone setting in a manager account

Google can reset your time zone in a manager account only once, so please choose your new time zone carefully. Requests to change time zones must come from an Admin user, and your time zone may be shifted only eastward, for example, from Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) to India Standard Time (IST). If your time zone has already been reset once at your request, it can’t be changed again.

You can request a change to your manager account’s time zone here.

Note: Time zone changes are no longer supported in serving accounts.

Your currency setting

Your currency is permanently set when you set up your account. This setting cannot be updated because it is used to determine how you are billed.

If you wish to pay with a different currency, you must create a new account and set your desired currency at the time of account creation.

To set your currency in a new account:

  1. Create a new account.
  2. Fill in your account info and set your desired currency on the “Billing” page.

Your currency options may change depending on the country in which you registered your account. In some countries only certain currencies can be used.

Copy campaigns to a new account

If you have to create a new account in order to change your time zone or currency, you may want to use the solutions below to copy over campaigns to your new account. Note that these solutions will not copy over historical data.

If you have a manager account you can easily copy campaigns and other entities to your new account using the copy/paste feature.

If you don’t have a manager account, you can copy campaigns from your old account to your new account using Google Ads Editor, Google’s application for managing campaigns offline.

Use the following steps to copy campaigns using Google Ads Editor:

  1. Create a new account.
  2. Download and install Google Ads Editor.
  3. Download your old account and your new account into Google Ads Editor.
  4. In Google Ads Editor, copy and paste campaigns into your new account.
  5. In the top right corner of Ads Editor, click Post to publish your changes.
  6. In Google Ads, open your new account and check that your campaigns have been copied over.
  7. Verify that all account settings are correct.
