Set automatic campaign start and end dates

When you create a new Google Ads campaign, your start date is set to 'today' unless you specify otherwise. If you leave the start date as 'today', your campaign will start as soon as your first ads are approved. But if you create a campaign and don't want it to start right away, or know the specific date when you want your campaign to end, you can set automatic campaign start and end dates.

This article explains how to set automatic campaign start and end dates.

How to edit a start date

  1. In your Google Ads account, click the Campaigns icon Campaigns icon.
  2. Click the Campaigns in the section menu.
  3. Click Campaigns in the drop-down menu.
  4. Click the gear icon Tools and settings menu icon [Gear] beside the campaign that you want to edit.
  5. In the 'Settings' pop-out window, click on the drop-down arrow to expand the 'Start and end dates' section.
    • Note: If you’re resuming setup of a campaign or updating an existing campaign, click Additional settings to reveal this section.
  6. Click the drop-down arrow to select a calendar date for 'Start date'.
  7. Click Save.

After you set a start date, you can edit that date at any time until your campaign begins. After the start date has passed, it's no longer possible to edit that date. For example, if your start date is 1 February, you won't be able to edit your start date on 2 February. You can, however, still pause, resume or remove your campaign.

How to set an end date

  1. In your Google Ads account, click the Campaigns icon Campaigns icon.
  2. Click the Campaigns in the section menu.
  3. Click Campaignsin the drop-down menu.
  6. Click the drop-down arrow to select a calendar date for 'End date'.
  7. Click Save.

When you select an end date, your campaign will end on that date at 11.59 p.m. (or 23.59) in the time zone that you have chosen for your account.
