About the add-on for Google Sheets

The add-on for Google Sheets makes it easy for you to create, run and update your Google Ads reports in Google Sheets. Get all the benefits of Google Sheets’ powerful data manipulation and presentation capabilities when reporting on your Google Ads performance.

Using the add-on for Google Sheets, you can:

  • Quickly and easily create Google Ads reports in Google Sheets.
  • Choose columns and apply filters in the reports.
  • Refresh reports quickly, instead of running multiple reports and copying and pasting data.
  • Share reports with your team.
  • View, create and modify report definitions from within Google Sheets.
  • Pivot your report data in Google Sheets.

This article explains how you can install the add-on and use it to create, update, edit and delete your Google Ads reports in Google Sheets.

Note: This add-on is currently only available for the English language version of Google Sheets, and is only available in the United States.

Tip

See the settings for every report you created using the add-on for Google Sheets under the “Report configuration” tab at the bottom of the page.

Install the Google Ads add-on for Google Sheets

  1. Go to Google sheets.
    Note: Make sure that you’re signed into the specific Google account that has access to the Google Ads account that you’d like to run reports for. To switch to a different Google account, click your profile photo or email address in the top right of the screen, then select the account that you’d like to use. You’ll be able to select the specific Google Ads account that you want to use when you create a report.
  2. Click the plus sign under “Start a new spreadsheet”.
  3. From the menu at the top of the page, select Add-ons.
  4. Click Get add-ons.
  5. In the window that appears, enter “Google Ads” into the search bar in the top right corner.
  6. Hit Enter.
  7. Click the add-on called “Google Ads”.
  8. Click the “+Free” button in the top right hand corner of the window.
  9. Review the permissions, then click Allow to install the add-on.

Create a new report using the Google Ads add-on for Google Sheets

  1. Go to Google sheets.
    Note: Make sure that you’re signed into the specific Google account that has access to the Google Ads account that you’d like to run reports for. To switch to a different Google account, click your profile photo or email address in the top right of the screen, then select the account that you’d like to use. You’ll be able to select the specific Google Ads account that you want to use when you create a report.
  2. Click the plus sign under “Start a new spreadsheet”.
  3. From the menu at the top of the page, click Add-ons.
  4. Hover over “Google Ads”, then select Create a new report.
  5. If prompted, choose a Google Ads account to use for the spreadsheet. If you only have one Google Ads account associated with the Google account that you’re logged in to, the spreadsheet will automatically be associated with that account.
    Note: You can only select one account per spreadsheet.
  6. Enter the report parameters (like date range, report type, filters and more) in the window that appears on the right.
  7. Click Create report.

Refresh reports using the Google Ads add-on for Google Sheets

  1. Go to the report in Google Sheets that you wish to update.
    Note: Make sure that you’re signed into the same Google account that you used to create the report that you wish to update. To switch users, click your profile photo or email address in the top right of the screen, then select the account that you’d like to use.
  2. From the menu at the top of the page, click Add-ons.
  3. Hover over “Google Ads”, then select Refresh report.
  4. Tick the boxes next to the reports that you wish to update in the window that appears on the right.
  5. Click Refresh report.

Edit reports using the Google Ads add-on for Google Sheets

To update any parameters on an existing report (for example, date range, columns or filters) without creating a new report:

  1. Go to the report in Google Sheets that you wish to edit.
    Note: Make sure that you’re signed into the same Google account that you used to create the report that you wish to edit. To switch users, click your profile photo or email address in the top right of the screen, then select the account that you’d like to use.
  2. From the menu at the top of the page, click Add-ons.
  3. Hover over “Google Ads”, then select Edit a report.
  4. Choose the report that you wish to edit from the window that appears on the right.
  5. Click Edit report.
  6. Make your desired changes to the report in the window that appears on the right.
  7. Click Save and refresh report.
    Note: After you edit a report, that report’s new configuration will be updated in the “Report configuration” tab at the bottom of the page.

Schedule reports using the Google Ads add-on for Google Sheets

To send reports, choose one of the following options:

Schedule a new report

  1. Go to Google sheets.
    Note: Make sure that you’re signed into the specific Google account that has access to the Google Ads account that you’d like to send reports from. To switch to a different Google account, in the top right corner, click your profile photo or email address, then select the account you’d like to use.
  2. Click the plus sign under "Start a new spreadsheet".
  3. At the top, click Add-ons.
  4. Hover over "Google Ads", then select Create a new report.
  5. In the window that appears, enter the report parameters (like date range, report type, filters and more).
  6. Scroll down and tick the box next to "Schedule this report".
  7. Select the frequency of your sending schedule.
  8. Click Create report. Based on your chosen schedule, you’ll receive an email and your data will be refreshed automatically in this sheet.

Schedule an existing report

  1. Go to the report in Google Sheets that you’d like to schedule.
    Note: Make sure that you’re signed into the same Google account that you used to create the report that you want to send. To switch users, in the top right corner, click your profile photo or email address, then select the account you’d like to use.
  2. At the top, click Add-ons.
  3. Hover over "Google Ads", then select Edit a report.
  4. Choose the report that you wish to edit.
  5. Click Edit report.
  6. Tick the box next to "Schedule this report".
  7. Select the frequency of your sending schedule.
  8. Click Save and refresh report. Based on your chosen schedule, you’ll receive an email and your data will be refreshed automatically in this sheet.

Delete reports using the Google Ads add-on for Google Sheets

  1. Go to the report in Google Sheets that you wish to delete.
    Note: Make sure you’re signed into the same Google account that you used to create the report that you wish to delete. To switch users, click your profile photo or email address in the top right of the screen, then select the account that you’d like to use.
  2. From the menu at the top of the page, click Add-ons.
  3. Hover over “Google Ads”, then select Delete reports.
  4. Choose the report that you wish to delete from the window that appears on the right.
  5. Click Delete reports.
    Note: After you delete a report, that report’s configuration will no longer appear in the “Report configuration” tab at the bottom of the page.
