Clicks and costs in Smart campaigns

Customers interact with your ads by clicking or calling the phone number listed in your ad. After clicking your ad, a potential customer is taken to the landing page for your ad – usually your website. People can also click the phone number in your ad to call your business on their mobile device.

A click means that someone is interested in finding out more about your business. Reviewing the number of clicks that your ads get can help you understand how well your ads appeal to potential customers. Relevant ads are more likely to receive clicks and calls from people interested in what you offer.

You only pay for ad clicks and calls to your business from your ads. Your costs may vary from day to day, but you won’t be charged more than your maximum monthly budget.

Where your ad clicks come from and how your spend is distributed

To get you the most value, your ads are shown on Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube and Google partner websites.

To see a breakdown of how your spend is distributed over the places that your ads were shown:

  1. Find the campaign that you want to see more information about.
  2. Click on the spend amount in your local currency, located above the 'Impressions' metrics.
