If your browser is running an ad blocker extension (for example Google Chrome’s Ad Blocker or another third-party ad blocker), a red banner error message may appear at the top of your Google Ads and you may be unable to see your ad previews while using Google Ads. The error may not show consistently across all browsers or on some networks if you access Google Ads through more than one browser. This article describes how to check if an ad blocker is activated in your browser and how to disable Google Chrome’s ad blocker. To disable third-party ad blockers, consult with the developer’s guidance.
Before you begin
In order to test whether an ad blocker is causing you to be unable to see your ad preview, open Google Ads and check for the error in at least two browsers as well as in a private browser window (Incognito mode in Chrome). Note: The instructions in the next section describe how to deactivate the ad blocker in Google Chrome, but if you have an ad blocker in a different browser, these instructions won’t apply.
Deactivate the ad blocker (desktop)
You can change your settings to allow ads on all sites.
- At the top right, click More Settings Advanced Site Settings Ads.
- Turn on Blocked on sites that tend to show intrusive ads (recommended).

Stop Chrome from blocking ads on your site
Chrome removes ads from websites that violate the Better Ads Standards. The standards discourage the types of ads that are particularly annoying to people.
If ads are being removed from a site that you own, visit the Ad Experience Report. In the report, you'll learn about any issues found with your site and how to address them.
