Learn about the Master Passcode for the Nest × Yale Lock

When you first install and set up your Google Nest × Yale Lock, you’ll be asked to create a Master Passcode on the lock itself. Once you connect your lock to the Nest app, you won’t need the Master Passcode anymore. You will only use passcodes that you’ve created with the Nest app

You’ll only need the Master Passcode during the installation and set up process so that you can connect the lock to the Nest app. After that, you won’t need the Master Passcode anymore.

Each person that shares access to your home will create a unique passcode with the Nest app. You’ll generate a passcode for people with Home Entry Only access.

When you may need the Master Passcode

If you don’t connect your lock to the Nest app, you will have to remember the Master Passcode to add new passcodes and change settings on the lock itself.

If you remove the lock from the Nest app, you will need to do a factory reset and create a Master Passcode again if you want to continue using your lock.

Keep in mind when you don’t have the lock connected to the Nest app, you won’t be able to access some features. Learn more in the article below.
