Seamless Setup allows you to set up compatible devices from start to finish on the Google Home app. When you choose devices that are supported for Seamless Setup, you don't need a bridge, hub, or the device maker’s app.
What you need
- The latest version of the Google Home app available on Android or iOS
- A Google Nest or Google Home speaker or display or a Nest Wifi point
- For Wi-Fi smart devices, AP isolation should be off on your internet router
- A device that supports Seamless Setup
Set up Seamless Setup devices
- Set up your Google Nest or Home speaker or display, if you haven’t already done so.
- Plug in and turn on your smart device in the same room as your speaker or display.
- Open the Google Home app . Make sure you have the most recent version.
- Tap Devices Add Google Nest or partner device .
- Follow the in-app instructions to complete the setup.
- After setup is complete, relocate your smart device to the desired room.
Tip: The name you give your device will be used for voice commands. Use a name like “reading light” or “overhead light.” Don’t include the name of the room when you name your device.
Remove Seamless Setup devices
Important: When you remove a device from a home, it disconnects the device from members in the home and unlinks the device from your Google Account.
- Open the Google Home app .
- Tap Devices .
- Tap and hold your device's tile.
- At the top right, tap Settings Remove device Remove.
How to know if a device supports Seamless Setup
Check if "Seamless setup with Google Home app" is on your device's packaging, manual, or website.
Note: Seamless Setup of this device requires a Google Nest or Home speaker or display. Setup is not supported through Nest Wifi point.
