Cancel, pause or change a subscription on Google Play

Subscriptions on Google Play are for an indefinite term, and you’ll be charged at the beginning of each billing cycle according to your subscription terms (for example, weekly, annually or another period), unless you unsubscribe.

Make sure to sign in to the Google Account that has your subscriptions.

You can use our self-help flow to cancel a subscription.

Cancel a subscription

Cancel a subscription on play.google.com

Important: When you uninstall an app, your subscription won’t cancel.

  1. On your computer, go to subscriptions on Google Play.
  2. For the subscription that you want to cancel, click Manage
  3. Click Cancel subscription.
  4. Within the confirmation pop-up, select a reason.
  5. Click Continue.
Tip: If you have a subscription with an app and it’s removed from Google Play, your future subscription will be cancelled. Your past subscriptions can't be refunded (with some exceptions), as specified in this article or in Google Play's refund policies.
What happens after you cancel

Important: If you've committed to multiple payments for your subscription by purchasing with a payment plan, refer to the section below titled 'What happens after you stop renewal on a payment plan' for information about cancelling.

When you cancel a subscription, you’ll still be able to use your subscription for the time that you’ve already paid.

For example, if you buy a one-year subscription on 1 January for £10 and decide to cancel your subscription on 1 July:

  • You’ll have access to the subscription until 31 December.
  • You won’t be charged another yearly subscription of £10 the following 1 January.

What happens after you cancel Play Pass

Any apps that you installed from Play Pass and their data will remain on your device.

For content that you obtained via Play Pass:

  • Paid apps will prompt you to buy the app or subscribe to Play Pass.
  • In-app purchases will be removed, but available for individual purchase.
  • Ads will reappear in apps where they were removed.
  • If you join Play Pass again, all this content will be unlocked again.
What happens after you cancel a prepaid plan

Prepaid plans last for a limited time, so you don’t need to cancel them. They automatically expire at the end of the billing period.

If your prepaid plan hasn’t been used, you can request a refund. Learn more about refunds on Google Play.

To cancel an unused prepaid subscription plan:

  1. On your computer, go to subscriptions on Google Play.
  2. Select the subscription or prepaid plan that you want to cancel.
  3. Click Cancel subscription.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

What happens after you stop renewal on a payment plan

Once your payment method is charged for a payment plan, you can’t cancel any remaining payments for that payment plan. However, you can choose to stop your payment plan from auto-renewing. This means that you won’t be charged on your next subscription renewal date (which you can view in subscriptions on Google Play or on your email receipt), and you can continue to access your content until then. If you choose to stop your payment plan from renewing, you'll still be responsible for any remaining payments on your current payment plan. Google Play will not issue refunds except as otherwise provided in Google Play's refund policy.
