Extend your Pixel Tablet's battery life

If you have a Charging Speaker Dock, attach your Pixel Tablet to it to always keep it charged and ready to use.

If you don’t have a Charging Speaker Dock or plan to use your Pixel Tablet away from your dock, you can change your settings and background activities to help your Pixel Tablet’s battery last longer.

Turn on Battery Saver or Extreme Battery Saver

Battery saver turns on the Dark theme and limits background activity to save battery life. Learn how to use and schedule Battery Saver.

Turn on Adaptive Battery

Adaptive Battery learns from your tablet's usage to continuously optimize how apps use battery. To extend battery life, it may reduce performance and delay notifications. To turn it on:

  1. Open your device's Settings app Settings app.
  2. Tap Battery.
  3. Tap Battery saver and then Adaptive battery and then turn on Use Adaptive Battery.

Avoid actions that keep the screen on continuously

  • Turn off your screen when you're not using it.
  • Let your screen turn off sooner automatically:
    1. Open your device's Settings app Settings app.
    2. Tap Display & touch and then Screen timeout.
    3. Choose a shorter timeout.
  • Avoid watching videos or playing graphics-heavy games.
  • Turn on Dark Theme:
    1. Open your device's Settings app Settings app.
    2. Tap Display & touch and then turn on Dark theme.

Turn off high drain features

Limit automatic syncing

You can save battery by turning off auto-sync for your Google Account or individual Google apps. But your data won’t automatically refresh while auto-sync is off, and some apps won’t work properly. Learn how to stop syncing your Google apps.

Tip: Battery saver turns off most automatic syncing.
