Important: This feature is available for all Pixel Pro phones (including Pixel Pro Fold) running Android 14 and up.
You can hold your Pixel Pro phone in front of your Pixel Tablet to quickly cast media between them. Cast detects proximity using Ultra Wideband connectivity.
To use this feature, you need:
- A YouTube Music Premium or Spotify subscription.
- A Pixel Pro phone (including Pixel Pro Fold).
- A Pixel Tablet attached to a Charging Speaker Dock.
- Both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Learn how to connect to a Wi-Fi network.
- To install the latest version of Android on both devices. Learn how to check and update your Android version.
- To enable the cast feature on both devices:
- Open each device’s Settings app .
- Tap Google All services Devices & sharing Cast options.
- Turn on Hold close to cast on or off.
Transfer playback from your Pixel Pro to your Pixel Tablet
- Attach your Pixel Tablet to a Charging Speaker Dock.
- On your Pixel Pro phone, open the YouTube Music or Spotify app play the media that you want to transfer.
- Hold your Pixel Pro phone in front of your Pixel Tablet.
- Media will automatically switch to your Pixel Tablet. Once media has transferred, you’ll get a “Playing on tablet” prompt on your phone.
- If you get a prompt “Move closer to play on tablet” prompt, move your phone closer to your tablet.
Transfer playback back to your Pixel Pro phone
You can switch media playback back to your Pixel Pro phone in two ways:
- On your phone’s screen, tap Undo on the “Playing on tablet” prompt. Media playback will switch back to your phone.
- Move your Pixel Pro phone more than one meter away from your tablet. When you get the “Move closer” prompt on your phone, move the devices closer together until playback switches back to your phone.
