When you set up your Google Assistant, you may be asked to turn on certain settings.
Settings you may be asked to turn on
Your Assistant may ask you to turn on these settings:
- Web & App Activity, which includes your activity on Google sites and apps. This info helps your Assistant provide more personalized experiences and suggestions, and improve Google services and technologies for everyone.
-
App info from your devices, which saves info from your signed-in devices about installed apps to make them easier to interact with. Learn how to manage device app info from your devices.
-

- Voice and audio activity, which saves audio recordings from your interactions with Google Search, Google Assistant, and Maps in your Google Account to help improve audio recognition, including technologies to help reduce unintended activations. When you turn on these settings, you turn them on for your Assistant and other Google services you use.
How to turn these settings on or off
Follow these steps:
- On your device, go to your Google Account. You might need to sign in to your account.
- Turn these settings on or off:
- What’s on your screen. On some devices, like Android phones, Android tablets, and ChromeOS laptops, you can ask your Assistant to show you info related to what’s on your screen. For example, if there’s a movie title on your screen, you can find info about the cast members.
- Voice Match, available on some devices, which lets your Assistant and the Google app recognize your voice. When this setting is on:
- Multiple people can enroll on shared devices
- Your Assistant can use your voice to access your personal results like calendar (if you turn on the Personal Results setting)
