Check that your devices are on the same Wi-Fi network

To confirm if your phone or tablet and your Google devices are on the same Wi-Fi network, follow the steps below.

Step 1. Check the Wi-Fi network of your mobile device or tablet

  1. On your Android device, tap Settings and then open your device’s Network and Wi-Fi settings. The Wi-Fi network labelled ‘Connected’ is the network your mobile device is connected to. Your Wi-Fi network must match the network that your speaker or display is connected to.
  2. If your Wi-Fi network doesn’t match or if you need to change the network:
    • Tap a new network and then enter password and then Connect.
    • If you've entered the password for that network before, you just need to tap the network and your device should connect automatically.

Step 2. Check the Wi-Fi network of your Google device

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap Favourites or Devices .
  3. Tap and hold your device's tile.
  4. Tap Settings  and then Device information.
  5. Check what Wi-Fi network your device is connected to.

If your phone or tablet's Wi-Fi network doesn't match the Wi-Fi network of your Google device, learn how to change the Wi-Fi network of your device.

Important: If you have a Charging Speaker Dock, it won't connect to Wi-Fi on its own. To learn which Wi-Fi network you're using, check the Wi-Fi network that your Pixel Tablet is connected to.
