Fix Bluetooth, connection, and LTE issues on Google Pixel Watch

If you’ve Set up and manage Google Pixel Watch with a cellular plan but your Pixel Watch can’t connect or gets a network error, try the solutions below to fix the issues you’re experiencing.

Before you begin

Check that you have each of these settings first.

  1. Bluetooth is turned on. If not, you can Connect through Bluetooth on your Android device.
  2. Airplane Mode is turned Off on both your mobile phone and Pixel Watch.
  3. Your phone is connected to the Internet.
  4. Your Pixel Watch app nearby permission is set to Allow. If not, you can Change app permissions on your Android phone.

It takes too long to set up my watch

If it takes more than 20 minutes for your watch and phone to share info during set up, try the steps in Fix issues with setting up your watch.

Note: Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2 only connect to Android phones.

Poor signal strength

If your LTE Watch is physically away from your phone for an extended period of time and you have activated your Watch with a carrier, your Watch will connect to an LTE network instead of using your phone’s Bluetooth connection. Your Watch may have poor connectivity depending on the signal strength from the carrier. To check the signal strength on your watch:

  1. On your Google Pixel Watch, swipe down and then tap Settings .
  2. Tap Connectivity and then Mobile and then SIM status.

Not connected to Bluetooth

Fix Bluetooth connection from Bluetooth devices to your watch. For issues pairing your watch to your phone, go to Fix Pixel Watch setup and phone pairing issues.

Step 1: Restart Watch

  1. On Google Pixel Watch, press and hold the crown for 3 seconds.
  2. Scroll down and tap Restart.
  3. If your watch screen is still unresponsive after taking these steps, perform a hard reset. Long press the crown and side button for about 35 seconds (may take longer) until the white "G" logo appears. The watch should restart and be usable again once the restart completes.

Step 2: Reset Watch

A factory reset will help resolve multiple issues you may encounter in the Google Pixel Watch app, which include:

  • Timed out updates
  • Forgotten PIN or passcode
  • "Something went wrong" error message
  • Frozen on the screen with the "G" logo
Tip: After you reset your watch to factory settings, all apps, settings, and data on your watch are erased.

Step 1: Reset from the Pixel Watch or Pixel Watch app

You can reset from either the Google Pixel Watch app or your Google Pixel Watch.

Reset from your Google Pixel Watch

  2. Tap System.
  3. Scroll down and tap Disconnect and reset and then Ok .

Important: If you’ve factory reset your Watch from your phone or used the Fastboot reset method, you’ll be required to sign in with your most recent PIN or Google account login when you re-pair your phone and Watch. This will Help prevent others from using your device without permission.

Step 3: Reset from Fastboot. This method should only be done after trying all other steps above.

This method should only be done if after trying all other steps above didn't resolve the issue.

Important: If you’ve factory reset your Watch from your phone or used the Fastboot reset method, you’ll be required to sign in with your most recent PIN or Google account login when you re-pair your phone and Watch. This will Help prevent others from using your device without permission.

Step 4: Reconnect your phone and watch

After you reset your watch, you'll want to reconnect your phone and watch by following the instructions to Set up Google Pixel Watch.

Not connected to Wi-Fi

A "Network error" message in the Google Pixel Watch app may indicate that your phone is not connected to Wi-Fi. As long as your Google Pixel Watch's Wi-Fi is on, it'll connect automatically to Wi-Fi networks saved on your phone. Make sure your phone is connected to Wi-Fi and then check to ensure Wi-Fi is turned on in your watch's settings.

  1. On Google Pixel Watch, swipe down and then tap Settings .
  2. Tap Connectivity and then Wi-Fi. If Wi-Fi is set to off, tap the Wi-Fi switch to turn it on.
  3. If it doesn't already have a connection, tap Add network.
  4. If it requires a password, tap Password. When prompted, enter the password on your watch.

Note: Your watch can't connect to Wi-Fi networks that take you to a page before you can connect (for example, Wi-Fi networks at places like hotels or coffee shops). It also can't connect to 5GHz networks.
