Offer apps, in-app products, and subscriptions in multiple currencies

If you're in a location that supports merchant registration, you can offer apps, in-app products, and subscriptions in multiple currencies through Play Console.

If you make an app available in a location that supports a local currency, Google Play customers will see the app offered in that currency. Customers will be charged in their local currency, but payments will be issued in the currency that matches your payments profile.

Set up prices for your app, in-app products, and subscriptions

To learn how to set up and change app, in-app product, and subscription prices, go to Set up your app's prices.

Payments

Payments will be issued to your bank account in the currency that matches your payments profile. You can't select the payment currency or receive payments in a currency other than the currency associated with your Google account or your domestic bank account.

On the Order management page, you'll see the currency the buyer used to pay for the app and in-app purchases. If the currency for the order doesn't match your payments profile, Google will convert the value to your currency. Payments for orders made in local currencies will follow your normal payment schedule.

Exchange rates

Google uses the exchange rate at the time the order is placed to convert sales processed in the buyer's currency to the currency of your Google account.

This rate updates throughout the day, and conversion occurs each time an order is charged. You'll see the exchange rate in your order receipt for each app.

Refunds

For orders placed in the buyer's local currency, refunds will be issued in the same currency as the order and changes in exchange rates won't affect the refund amount. The full amount of the refund will be sent to your customer's credit or debit card in their local currency. Any debits applied to your payments profile for chargebacks will use the exchange rate from the time the order was placed.

For more information, read about refunds and cancellations.

Local currency support

When Google adds support for a new buyer currency in a country where you already distribute your app, we'll automatically generate a price for your app and in-app products based on your default price, the current exchange rate, and locally relevant pricing patterns.

You can review your app's prices on the App pricing page (Monetize with PlayProducts > App pricing) in Play Console.

For subscriptions, we’ll automatically generate a price for your subscription based on the price you’ve set for “New countries/regions."  If you’ve chosen not to make your subscription base plan or offer available in “New countries/regions” your subscription will not be made available in this new country.  To change this:

  1. Open Play Console and go to the Subscriptions page (Monetize with Play > Products > Subscriptions).
  2. Next to the subscription you want to edit, click the right arrow to view the subscription details.
  3. Under "Base plans and offers," click the right arrow next to the base plan you want to edit.
  4. In the "Price and availability" section, click Manage country / region availability.
  5. Scroll down to “Other countries/regions.”
  6. Click the arrow to expand the list, and then select or uncheck New countries/regions.
  7. Click Apply
  8. Click Save changes.
