You can change how your device opens links into instant apps or websites in your settings. If you turn on “Upgrade web links,” and click certain links, the instant app may open and you’ll be able to use some of it’s features, without actually installing the full app. If the setting is turned off, the link will open in a website. - Open the Google Play app .
- At the top right, tap the profile icon.
- Tap Settings General Google Play Instant.
- Turn Upgrade web links on or off.
Tip: If Google Play Instant isn't in your settings, it may not be available for your device type.

When you click on links to an app (from search, emails or ads, and more), some apps may open with Google Play Instant and let you try them before installing. These apps, called “instant apps,” will let you use some of their features without having to install the app itself.
