Starting in July, you can no longer purchase TV episodes and seasons from Google TV, but can continue to purchase TV shows from YouTube (depending on country availability). Learn how to access previously purchased titles and more here.

Buy or rent movies with Google TV

When you buy or rent a movie through a Google TV device or the Google TV app on an Android device, it’s added to your library. You can watch movies and shows in your library across many devices. You can also share eligible titles with up to 5 family members through your Family Library.

Rent or buy a movie

On a Google TV device

  1. Search for the title you want to rent or buy.
  2. Open the title’s details page.
  3. At the bottom, you’ll find the number of “ways to watch.”
  4. Choose if you want to rent or buy the content.
You can't rent or buy movies on your iPhone or iPad.

Watch previously purchased content

Important:
  • If you previously purchased content from Google Play Movies & TV, YouTube, Android TV, or Google TV, you can find it in your Library.
  • Newly purchased TV shows from YouTube are only available in your YouTube library.

On a Google TV device

  1. From the Google TV home screen, select Library.
  2. You can find your movies and shows in different sections.

In the Google TV app

  1. Open the Google TV app .
  2. Tap Your stuff and then Library.

Most rental periods last for 30 days from your purchase date or 48 hours after you start watching, whichever comes first. You can watch the movie as many times as you want before your rental expires.
