Reviews and ratings for Local Services providers

Google and its partner affiliates may ask customers to rate and review businesses featured in Local Services Ads. These ratings can appear in search results, as well as in each provider’s profile.

About reviews and ratings on Local Services

Reviews should be based on your personal experience and be specific, factual, and relevant to the services you received.

Write what you think would be helpful for other readers to know and be respectful even when leaving a negative review. For example, a helpful review may focus on a provider’s professionalism, quality of work, and whether the price was a good value.

You won't receive any compensation or consideration in return for your review, and providers are prohibited from offering consumers compensation in return for their reviews.

Neither consumers nor providers should attempt to contact a reviewer directly regarding their review.

What happens when you submit a review?

Note: Reviews you leave for Local Services Ads in EMEA and new reviews you leave for select US and Canada advertisers are now governed by Maps user contributed content policies. Learn more about Prohibited & restricted content.

How do I know which policies are governing my reviews?

When leaving a review, if you are subject to Local Services policies, you'll be asked to accept Local Service Terms of Service before posting the review.

Types of reviews

Anonymous reviews

Note: Anonymous reviews are currently only available in the U.S. and Canada.
When leaving a review with Local Services, you have the option to make your review and rating anonymous. Anonymous reviews contain the approximate date the service was performed (week or month), the type of service provided, and the city where the service was performed, but not your name or profile photo.

Google verified reviews

Note: Google verified reviews are currently only available in the U.S. and Canada.

Reviews for providers found and hired through Local Services include a "Google verified" label. This means that Google was able to verify that the customer who wrote the review booked the service provider through Local Services.

Reviews from other sources

Providers may also have reviews for services not booked through Local Services. This could include reviews left on other Google products, or partner affiliate websites. These reviews don’t have a “Google verified” label.

Note: Google has a strict policy against fake reviews. Google reserves the right to take down any review deemed to be fake or that doesn’t comply with Google’s user content and conduct policies.
