You can create labels that store your emails. Add as many labels as you want to an email.
Note: Labels are different from folders. If you delete a message, it will be erased from every label that it’s attached to and your entire inbox.
Add a label to a message
Add a label to a message you're reading
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app .
- Open a message.
- In the top right, tap More .
- Tap Change labels.
- Add or remove labels.
- Tap OK.
Add a label to multiple messages in your inbox
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app .
- To the left of a message, touch and hold the letter or photo.
- touch and hold any other messages you want to add labels to.
- In the top right, tap More .
- Tap Change labels.
- Add or remove labels.
- Tap OK.
Move a message to another label
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app .
- Open the email you want to move, or select it in your inbox.
- Tap More Move to.
- Choose the label you want to move the email to.
Tip: You can change your Gmail settings to quickly take this action by swiping left or right on messages in your messages list.

Note: Only you can see the labels that are added to your messages.

- On a computer, open Gmail. You can't create labels from the Gmail app.
- On the left, click More.
- Click Create new label.
- Name your label.
- Click Create.
- On a computer, open Gmail. You can't edit labels from the Gmail app.
- On the left side of the page, hover your cursor over your label's name.
- Click the Down arrow .
- Click Edit.
- Make changes to your label.
- Click Save.
Delete a label
- On a computer, open Gmail. You can't edit labels from the Gmail app.
- On the left side of the page, hover your cursor over your label's name.
- Click the Down arrow .
- Click Remove label.
