Join a community challenge in the Google Maps app

You can join community challenges to support local businesses, share your take on the places you love, and then earn bonus points in the Google Maps app. If there’s a community challenge for you, you can find it in the Contribute tab. 

Important: This feature is only available in select countries.

Join a community challenge

1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Maps app .
2. At the bottom, tap Contribute.
3. Once you find the “Community challenge” section, tap Get started.

Contribute to a community challenge

1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Maps app .
2. Add eligible places to the challenge by doing either of the following:
   • Continue visiting your favorite places.
   • On the community challenge page, under “Pick a place,” tap Search.
3. For places that appear on the community challenge page, prepare a post. 
   • Depending on the type of challenge, you can add photos, ratings, reviews, or even suggest an edit.

Tip: You can earn points with every post. When you reach a milestone during a challenge, you can earn bonus points. Learn more about points, levels, and badging.

Find your contributions to the latest community challenge

1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Maps app .
2. At the bottom, tap Contribute.
3. On the “Challenge completed” card, tap See contributions.

Tip: After the latest community challenge ends, you can find a summary of your personal contributions for up to a week.
