Get to Street View in Google Maps
Search for a place or drop a pin
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app .
- Search for a place or drop a pin on the map.
- To drop a pin, touch and hold a place on the map.
- Tap the thumbnail with a Street View icon .
- When you’re done, at the top left, tap Back .
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app .
- Tap on a place marker.
- At the bottom, tap the place name or address.
- Tap the thumbnail with a Street View icon .
- When you’re done, at the top left, tap Back .
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app .
- At the top, tap Layers Street View.
- To enter Street View, tap on any blue line.
- Blue lines on the map indicate Street View coverage.
Find street-level imagery from other dates
Important: Historic imagery isn't available for every place that has Street View.
You can find street-level imagery taken at different times from the Street View archives and other contributors. For example, you can explore how your neighborhood has changed over time.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app .
- Tap Layers Street View Close .
- Tap on any blue line See more dates.
- Not all locations on Google Maps have this link.
- At the bottom, scroll and select an image in the carousel.
- When you’re done, at the top left, tap Close .
Share Street View image in Google Maps
To share a Street View image, tap the screen Share .
Explore Street View in Google Maps
- To explore in Street View: Drag your finger on the screen or tap the compass.
- To move: Tap the arrows or double-tap the image in the direction you want to go.
- For a wider view and change to landscape mode: Turn your device sideways.
- To zoom in: Pinch open on the screen.
- To zoom out: Pinch closed on the screen.
Explore split-screen Street View
You can switch from a full-screen Street View image to a split-screen view that also displays a small map.
- To switch, on the Street View image, at the bottom right, tap Split-screen arrows .
- To zoom in a map: Pinch open on the screen.
- To zoom out: Pinch closed on the screen.
- If you select any named point of interest on the smaller map: The map recenters immediately and new imagery loads for the best view of that place.
- If you tap any blue line on the smaller map: The map recenters immediately.
Preview directions in Street View in Google Maps
Important: To get directions in Street View, enter a destination and tap Directions .- On your Android phone or tablet, to find detailed directions, pull up the bottom window.
- If a preview is available for a step, a photo shows.
- To get to Street View for the step you want, tap the photo.
- To get to the next step in the route: At the bottom, pull left.
- To get to the previous step: At the bottom, pull right.
- To exit Street View: At the top left, tap Back .

- Locate the image.
- Tap More Report a problem.
- Select the issue and tap Submit.
