You can use Google Maps on your feature phone to:
- Search for places using your voice or by typing
- Get step-by-step directions
- View your current location on the map
- Explore and select places on the map
Search for a place
- Open the Google Maps app .
- Tap the search bar.
- To use your voice to search for an address or place, type or touch and hold the search bar.
- Select a place from the list.
Tip: Select a place, then get directions or view it on the map. You can also view photos, make phone calls, view opening hours or read reviews of the place.
Search for types of places
- Open the Google Maps app .
- Tap the search bar.
- To use your voice to search for a category like 'restaurants', type or touch and hold the search bar.
- Select a place from the list.
Get directions
- Open the Google Maps app .
- Tap Directions .
- Enter the name or address of the place or tap the location on your map:
- To view the directions on the map, tap the map.
- To view step-by-step instructions to your destination, tap Details.
- To get a preview of the directions, tap Go.
Find your location on the map
- Open the Google Maps app .
- Select Your location .
- Your current location is shown as a blue dot on the map.
If you're having issues with your location:
- Restart your phone
- Try moving outdoors for a better GPS connection. If this is your first time getting a location, try waiting up to 10 minutes for a fix.
- Make sure that Geolocation is turned on in the Settings app
- Make sure that you gave access to Geolocation in the Settings app
Explore the map
- Open the Google Maps app .
- Select Show map.
- To adjust the size of the map, press zoom in or zoom out .
- To select a place on the map, tap a place Your location .
Tip: You can also zoom in and out with 1 or 3 on the keyboard.
Find other map views and get more info
You can find info on current traffic or bike routes in layers or special map views.
Important: Traffic information isn't available everywhere.
- Open the Google Maps app .
- Tap Map Layers , then choose a layer:
- Public transport: Public transportation information, like train lines and bus routes.
- Traffic: Flow of traffic on the roads.
- Satellite: Images of the Earth from above.
- To turn off a layer, tap the layer again.
Tip: To edit or delete data associated with your account, use your desktop, Android or iOS devices.
