Start or open a Google Jamboard while in a meeting. A Jamboard is a virtual whiteboard where you can brainstorm ideas live with others.
Important: You can only start or open a Jamboard during a Meet call if you joined the call on a computer. Meeting participants on a mobile device or tablet will get a link to a Jamboard file and be directed to the Jamboard app.
Start or open a Jamboard in a meeting
- Start or Join a meeting.
- At the bottom right, click Activities Whiteboarding.
- Select an option:
- To create a new Jamboard: Click Start a new whiteboard.
- To open an existing Jamboard from your drive, shared drives or computer: Click Choose from drive.
Tip: The Jamboard file will open in a new tab and a link will be shared automatically via the in-call chat.
Start or open a meeting in Jamboard
Start a meeting from Jamboard- On your computer, open Jamboard.
- At the top right, click Meet Start a new meeting.
- Jamboard and Meet participants display side by side in the same window or tab.
- To share your presentation, in the right panel, click Present all .
- To no longer share, at the bottom right, click Stop presenting .
- To share the meeting link, click Copy joining info .
- To leave, at the bottom right, click Leave call .
- On your computer, open Jamboard.
- At the top right, click Meet .
- To join a scheduled meeting, click the meeting name.
- To join with a code, click Use a meeting code Enter a code.
- Join the meeting.
- To join and not share your Jamboard, click Join the meeting. You can't present or change other participants' views in this setting.
- To join and share your Jamboard, click Just present this tab.
- Important: You can't change the presentation tab in Jamboard. To switch between tabs while you share, present from Google Meet.
- Tip: If your meeting is in another tab, in your Jamboard click Bring the meeting here.
- Jamboard and Meet participants display side by side in the same window or tab.
- To stop your presentation, at the bottom right, click Stop presenting .
Understand Jamboard access permissions
- Participants on the calendar invitation and in the same organisation as the Jamboard host are automatically given edit access to the Jamboard once shared.
Important: If you're a Google Workspace for Education user, participants are given view-only access by default. You'll need to grant them edit access to the Jamboard.
- Participants not on the calendar invite but in the same organisation as the Jamboard host are automatically given edit access, if the Jamboard is shared after they've joined the meeting.
Important: You'll need to give access to any participants who join the meeting after the Jamboard is shared.
- Participants from a different organisation than the Jamboard host need to be given access. Open the Jam file > click Share type in the email addresses click Done.
