About Merchant Center Next

What is Merchant Center Next?

Merchant Center Next is the platform for businesses to manage how their products show up on Google. Merchant Center Next lets you control how your products appear across Google, and gives you valuable insights about your business, products, and market. We’ll continue to build more features and improvements into this redesigned experience.

What is “classic Merchant Center”?

Classic Merchant Center is a previous version of Merchant Center experience. Merchant Center Next has replaced the classic Merchant Center user interface for all accounts as of September 30, 2024. 

What are the main key changes between Merchant Center classic and Merchant Center Next?

Google Merchant Center Next offers improved functionality and design compared to classic Merchant Center. Find out more about key changes in the table overview.

Can I switch back to classic Merchant Center?

No. Classic Merchant Center was retired on September 30, 2024. The switching option was only available temporarily through the transition period, which ended September 30, 2024. 

What’s the difference between Merchant Center Next, Google Business Profile and Google Ads?

Merchant Center allows you to manage how your products and stores appear on Google. Business Profile is a representation of your physical store on Google. Google Ads can be connected to both to boost visits to your website and store. You can keep using Merchant Center together with Business Profile and Google Ads.

Where can I view account level warnings and other set-up and policy issues?

“Diagnostics” page is now renamed as the “Needs attention” tab. You can find it under the “Products” page. To view account level issues, click View setup and policy issues in the “Needs attention” tab under “Products”.

Where can I view the Diagnostics history chart?

“Diagnostics” page is now renamed as the “Needs attention” tab. To view historic product status, click View history in the “Needs attention” tab under “Products”.

I used the best sellers report in classic Merchant Center, where can I find it now?

The best sellers report is now within "Popular products" insights. In your Merchant Center Next, go to the “Analytics” tab, click Products and then click Popular products.

I used the price competitiveness report in classic Merchant Center, where can I find it now?

The price competitiveness report is now within "Pricing" insights. In your Merchant Center Next, go to the “Analytics” tab, click Products and then click Pricing.

Where can I find supplemental product data sources?

Supplemental product data is part of “Data sources” under the Settings and tools icon Tools and setting menu icon [Gear]. To use supplemental data sources or rules in your product data, you need to add “Advanced data source management” in “Add-ons”.
Note: For merchants who have used supplemental product data sources or attribute rules in your product data in classic Merchant Center, this add-on is already activated automatically upon transition to Merchant Center Next.
