Why this issue is happening

A value has not been provided in your product data for one or more attributes that are required for your product. For certain products featured in Shopping ads and free listings, specific sets of attributes are required.

For example, the gender [gender], age group [age_group], and color [color] attributes are all required for apparel offers, and must be specified in order for these offers to show. For shoes specifically, all these attributes as well as the size [size] attribute are required.

Your product will generally have lower data quality if its required attributes are missing from your product data. This may lead to reduced performance of your offer in search results.

How to fix your issue

To fix this issue, provide the missing required attributes for your product in your product data. You can add required attributes or only those that were specifically flagged for this error. Learn more about product data specification

In some cases, if you don’t provide a Google product category [google_product_category] for your product, a category will be automatically determined. If this category is inaccurate, the required attributes may be different from your uploaded attributes. You can specify the correct category manually, by using the Google product category [google_product_category] attribute, which may resolve the issue.

Fix products one by one directly in Merchant Center

Step 1 Navigate to Products in Merchant Center, then select the Needs attention tab.

Step 2 Use the filter icon above the table to find all products affected by your issue.

Step 3 Click on the title of the product you want to fix, then click Edit product.

Step 4 Provide the value of the missing attribute(s).

Step 5 Select Save.

Fix multiple products at once

Step 1 Navigate to Products in Merchant Center, then select the Needs attention tab.

Step 2 Use the filter icon above the table to find all products affected by your issue.

Step 3 Select the Download icon to download a list (.csv) of all affected products for all issues or this particular issue.

Step 4 Cross reference the downloaded list with your product data, and provide the value of the missing attribute(s).

Step 5 Reupload your corrected product data to Merchant Center using your chosen upload method.

After making the requested changes, check that you’ve fixed the issue by making sure it’s no longer listed on the “Needs attention” page.
