This lets you pay at shops in other countries with Google Pay.
Turn on UPI International
- Open the Google Pay app .
- Tap Scan QR code.
- Scan the shop’s QR code.
- Enter the money you owe in the right foreign currency.
- Pick the bank account you want to pay from.
- This example is in Indian rupees. It includes the cost to change money and the bank’s fee. See below for more info.
- Tap Activate UPI International.
- You can only use this for bank accounts that support UPI International.
Tip: You can only use this for 7 days, but you can turn it on again.
Make international payments
Important: Paying in other countries is like paying in India. The bank charges money to change to Indian rupees.
- Open the Google Pay app .
- Tap Scan QR code.
- Scan the international merchant’s QR code.
- Enter the money you owe in foreign currency.
- Pick the bank account you want to pay from.
- In this example, you'll pay in Indian rupees. This includes the cost to change money and the bank's fee. See below for more details.
- To finish, enter the UPI PIN.
Changing money & bank fees
Banks and the UPI group set the cost to change money. Banks charge a fee to change the money to Indian rupees.
Check your bank for information about changing money and bank fees.

Pay online in other countries
You can turn on UPI International by:
- Using the “Activate UPI International” section
- Scanning the international QR code
To pay with a QR code in another country:
- After you check out from the website, tap UPI payment.
- Open Google Pay app .
- Scan the International QR code.
- Tap Activate UPI International.
- Enter your PIN.
6. Pay.
Turn off UPI International
- Open the Google Pay app .
- Go to your profile.
- In the “Payment methods,” pick the bank with UPI International turned on.
- Tap Manages international payments.
- Tap Deactivate.
- Enter your UPI PIN.
