If you meet one or more of the following criteria, you may qualify for a US tax exemption:
- Resale
- Resale: Drop shipment
- Government entity
- Non-profit entity
- School or university
- Direct pay
If you upload a US tax exemption certificate for Google to review:
- You represent that you qualify for a US tax exemption because you meet any of the criteria listed above.
- You may qualify for more than one type of exemption and can upload multiple certificates.
Important:
- Google can’t advise you on tax issues. To better understand your tax situation, consult your tax advisor.
- The US tax exemption certificate is issued for tax purposes only. If your US tax exemption certificate is accepted, Google does not:
- Authorize you to resell Google products and/or services where prohibited.
- Appoint you as an authorized reseller of Google products and/or services.
To upload your US tax exemption certificate:
- Sign in to Payments Settings.
- Click Tax exemption info Add new tax exemption (optional).
- Enter:
- Your state
- Your Tax Exemption Number
- The certificate start and end date (if applicable)
- The exemption type (if applicable)
- Click Upload File.
- Navigate to and select your tax exemption certificate file. You can upload files in these formats:
- .jpg
- .png
- After the file uploads, click Add.
- Optional: To upload another certificate, click Add new tax exemption.
- Click Save.
Check the status of a tax exemption submission
After you submit your certificate, Google must review it.
- Sign in to Payments Settings.
- Click Tax exemption info.
- To check the status of the exemption, scroll to the state you selected in your submission.
