A more helpful and personalised experience for you
When you use the Phone app, we process some information to offer you better experiences in the product. Your information stays secure.
Your location
If you choose to enable Nearby places, the Phone app will collect your location to provide you with relevant local searches.
Your audio files
When you use voicemail transcription, the Phone app will collect your audio data for transcription and then discard it.
If you use features like voicemail, Hold for Me, Direct My Call or call screening, you can choose to share the audio and transcripts for your calls to help improve those features.
The Phone app uses data to improve your experience
The Phone app optionally processes your call-related data to provide services like spam filtering and automatic call screening.
To improve the Phone app’s performance and reliability, and to help with troubleshooting in case of issues, the Phone app collects performance data, crash logs and diagnostics. We also use this information to prevent abuse of our services.
It’s easy to view and control your data
With the Google Account dashboard, you can see an overview of the Google products that you use and the things that you store, like your emails. And with My Activity, it’s easy to see or delete data collected from your activity across Google services, including things that you’ve searched, viewed and watched.
