Use audio emoji in the Phone app

You can express emotions with audio when you call with other Pixel users. With the familiar language of emojis, you can express your feelings. To add more life to your call, you can select from a party popper, poop emoji, sad trombone, drum, and applause.

To elevate the call experience, audio emoji incorporate unique and delightful sound effects. This is triggered by familiar emoji buttons that are accessible while in-call. These sound effects offer users a method of entertainment to express and respond to conversations in a fun and innovative way.

Send audio emoji during phone call

Important: This feature requires both the caller and receiver to be on compatible Pixel phones. It’s available only in English on Pixel 6 and newer Pixel phones, except Pixel Fold.

To send an audio emoji:

  1. Tap the in-call chip to show the available audio emojis.
  2. Tap an audio emoji to send.

Tip: By default, "Audio Emoji" is enabled.

Turn off audio emoji feature

  1. On your Pixel phone, open the Phone app .
  2. Tap More and then Settings.
  3. Under “General,” tap Audio Emoji.
  4. Turn off Audio Emoji.
